Drab Majesty - An Object In Motion

Drab Majesty's latest EP emerges from a transformative 2021 creative retreat in coastal Oregon, where bandleader Deb Demure channeled introspective guitar work into a sonically adventurous collection. Inspired by morning hikes and sustained "flow states," Demure wielded a distinctive bowl-shaped 12-string Ovation to craft ambient experiments later refined through collaborations with Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, M83), and Ben Greenberg (Uniform). The result navigates shifting terrain: "Cape Perpetua" opens with raga-inflected finger-picking and delay; "The Skin And The Glove" channels jangly, kaleidoscopic pop reminiscent of Stone Roses and Primal Scream; Goswell's ethereal vocals grace the Cure-influenced "Vanity"; and the sprawling 15-minute closer "Yield To Force" unfolds as an instrumental meditation of cyclical strings, slide guitar, and synthesizer. An Object In Motion captures an artist at the threshold of reinvention—intuitive, prophetic, and poised for transformation.
