Dryft's From Stasis is a five-track deep dive into post-industrial IDM and ambient textures. It marks a return to form for Mike Cadoo, revisiting the gritty, compressed beatwork and off-world synthscapes he first explored in his earlier Gridlock and Dryft material. Across tracks like “Convade,” “Crossing Stasis,” and the sprawling 19-minute “Contour,” Cadoo interweaves rusty, syncopated 12-bit drums with cavernous drones and shimmering crescendos, striking a tension between dystopian noise and melancholic beauty. Written between 2017 and 2019, the album avoids overt experimentation, favoring a more instinctive and direct approach to electronic composition. The result is a cohesive sonic journey that feels at once suspended in time and emotionally resonant—capturing a sense of stasis only to break through it with crystalline clarity and evolving intensity.
