False Figure - Incarnate

Oakland post-punk band False Figure returns with a highly focused, streamlined sound on their third full-length, Incarnate. Building on the dark, driving aesthetic of their earlier releases, the band sharpens its approach here with greater emphasis on melody and texture.

Now expanded to a quartet with the addition of a 12-string guitar, these eleven tracks shimmer with interlocking six-string and 12-string lines that weave and collide in tight formation. While their dark punk roots remain ever-present, Incarnate frequently drifts into bright, hook-laden territory, recalling the emotional pull of classic ’80s alternative and post-punk.
