"The walking Ghost phase in radiation sickness” is the period of apparent recovery for a patient between the onset of initial severe symptoms and the subsequent, inevitable death." [Wikipedia] The fourteenth album by the German gothic rock band THE HOUSE OF USHER, continuously active since 1990 (!), paints a grim picture of our society. It is in a kind of walking ghost phase, hollowed out from within, trying to maintain a facade of normality. Unlike previous albums, which were inspired by the anthemic New Romantic sound of the 1980s and bands like U2 and Big Country, the eleven songs on the new album represent a return to the dark, raw power of gothic rock. Authentic, distinctive, and uncompromising, THE HOUSE OF USHER follows their chosen path, delivering catchy songs like "Siren," the single "How much Love can you give?", "Attention Thieves" or "Even Death must die," which tell stories and have the potential to make (music) history.
