Schrödinger’s International Decay inhabits a world of fractured cities, fading faith, ghostly nations, and nocturnal isolation. The Mexico City duo of Carlos and Ernesto Carapia expands their atmospheric post-punk foundation into a denser and more forceful sound, where ringing guitars, weighty bass lines, synths, and cavernous reverberation create an alluring sense of distance and decay.

Across eight tightly constructed tracks, International Decay balances the stark tension of post-punk with the immersive melancholy of darkwave, moving between driving guitar-led compositions and more spacious, synth-laden passages. “Ghost Nation” and “Metal Rain” carry a particularly muscular rhythmic weight, while “Broken Cities” and “Eleventh Hour” sink deeper into the album’s shadowy, synthetic atmosphere. “Caótica Penumbra,” featuring Argentine darkwave pioneers Euroshima, provides a striking bilingual exchange and a slightly more propulsive synth-driven turn.
