Switchblade Symphony - Serpentine Gallery

Switchblade Symphony’s Serpentine Gallery is a defining statement of 90s darkwave, where ethereal vocals, lush keyboards, industrial rhythms, and gothic atmosphere converge into something both haunting and immediately melodic. Tina Root’s distinctive, soaring voice floats above Susan Wallace’s ornate synth work and the album’s hypnotic electronic pulse, shifting effortlessly from the dreamy “Dissolve” and “Wallflower” to the darker, harder-edged “Clown,” “Wrecking Yard,” and “Gutter Glitter.” Beautifully strange, theatrical, and unmistakably nocturnal, Serpentine Gallery remains an essential document of the era and a landmark release in the evolution of modern goth and darkwave.
